Agniveer Vayu Cut Off: Expected Marks and Past Intake Trend

Agniveer Vayu cut off expected marks and past intake trend for science and other than science papers

Learn what the IAF actually releases, the expected marks for the science and other than science papers, how intake numbers have changed since 2022 and the safe score to aim for in mocks.

If you have just written the Agniveervayu online test, the first thing you want to know is simple: “Will my score be enough?” The honest answer is that the Indian Air Force does not publish an official Agniveer Vayu cut off. What you see online are estimates, and many of them don’t match each other.

This guide explains what is official, what the expected marks really mean, how intake numbers have changed and what score you should aim for.

Is There an Official Agniveer Vayu Cut Off?

No. The Central Airmen Selection Board (CASB), which runs Agniveervayu recruitment, does not release a subject-wise or category-wise cut-off list. When the agniveer vayu result is declared on the official portal (agnipathvayu.cdac.in), candidates log in to see whether they have qualified for Phase II or not.

The IAF sets the qualifying standard for each intake on its own and does not announce it. So any “official cut-off” table on a website or Telegram group is an estimate based on candidate reports.

Agniveervayu Online Test Pattern and Marking Scheme

Before looking at expected marks, know what they are out of. The Agniveervayu online test has three options, based on your Class 12 subjects:

Test option

Subjects

Questions

Time

Science subjects

English, Physics, Mathematics

70

60 minutes

Other than science subjects

English, Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA)

50

45 minutes

Science and other than science

English, Physics, Mathematics, RAGA

100

85 minutes

The agniveer vayu marking scheme is simple:

  • Correct answer: +1 mark

  • Wrong answer: 0.25 mark deducted

  • Unanswered question: 0 marks

This negative marking matters a lot. If you attempt 60 questions in the science paper and get 45 right and 15 wrong, your score is 45 − 3.75 = 41.25, not 45.

Agniveer Vayu Expected Cut Off: What the Numbers Online Really Mean

Most popular websites quote an agniveer vayu expected cut off of roughly 40 to 50 marks for the science paper (out of 70) and 35 to 45 marks for the other than science paper (out of 50). These are estimates, not IAF figures.

You will also find tables that give category-wise cut-offs such as “UR 70–80, OBC 65–75, SC/ST 60–70”. Be careful with these for two reasons:

  • They don’t fit the paper: The science paper has only 70 marks, so a cut-off of 70–80 is not possible unless the figure is a percentage, and most of these pages don’t say which it is.

  • Recruitment has no caste-based reservation: The Indian Armed Forces do not follow caste-based reservation in recruitment, so a category-wise cut-off table does not reflect how Agniveervayu selection works.

What about the agniveer vayu previous year cut off? Some older figures still circulate from the Airmen Group X and Group Y exams held before the Agnipath scheme began in 2022. The test pattern was similar, but those figures were never published officially either, and the competition was different. Use them only as a rough idea, not as a target.

Past Intake Trend: Posts and Competition

The number of seats in each intake has a big effect on how high your score needs to be. Here is what is publicly known about recent intakes:

Two things stand out. The first intake had about 250 applications for every post, and the number of posts has since fallen from around 3,500 to 2,500. With fewer seats, the score needed to get through is unlikely to drop.

What Decides the Cut Off Each Intake

The qualifying score moves from one intake to the next. The main factors are:

  • Number of posts: Fewer seats mean a higher score is needed to stay in the race.

  • Number of candidates: More candidates competing for the same seats pushes the bar up.

  • Paper difficulty: An easier paper means more candidates score high, which lifts the cut-off.

  • Shift differences: The test runs over more than one day and shift, so some papers can feel easier or harder than others.

Agniveer Vayu Safe Score: What to Aim For

Since there is no official agniveer vayu cut off, the smartest approach is to set a target well above the commonly quoted estimates. Based on the estimates and the shrinking number of posts, a sensible agniveer vayu safe score target for your mock tests is:

  • Science paper (70 marks): 50 or more after negative marking

  • Other than science paper (50 marks): 40 or more after negative marking

This is our practice target, not an IAF rule. Also, don’t let any one subject drag you down. The IAF does not explain how it treats subject-wise performance, so a balanced score across English, Physics, Mathematics or RAGA is safer than a high total built on one subject.

A few habits help you reach this target:

  • Attempt carefully: Only answer when you can rule out at least two options. Blind guessing costs you marks.

  • Practise full-length mocks: Take them in the exact time limit, then spend as long reviewing your mistakes as you spent on the test.

  • Fix English first: English is common to every paper, so it is the easiest place to gain marks.

What Happens After You Clear the Online Test

Clearing Phase I is only the first step. Candidates who qualify are called for Phase II, which includes:

  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT): A 1.6 km run within the time limit set in the notification, plus push-ups, sit-ups and squats.

  • Adaptability Tests I and II: These check whether you are suited to life in the Air Force.

  • Document verification: Your certificates are checked against your application.

Candidates who clear these stages go through a medical examination. The final select list is then drawn up on merit against the posts available in that intake. That is why a good written score still matters even after you qualify.

Latest Status: Intake 02/2027

The online test for intake 02/2027 was held on 22 and 23 September 2026. If you appeared, keep checking the official portal for your result. Don’t trust “cut-off released” messages on social media unless they link to the official site.

While you wait, start preparing for the PFT now. The 1.6 km run needs weeks of steady practice, so don’t leave it for the last few days.

FAQs

Does the IAF release an official Agniveer Vayu cut off?

No. The IAF does not publish subject-wise or category-wise cut-off marks. Candidates only see whether they have qualified for Phase II when they log in to the official portal.

What is the expected cut off for the Agniveer Vayu science paper?

Most estimates put it at around 40 to 50 marks out of 70 after negative marking. These are not official figures, so aim for 50 or more in your mock tests.

Is there negative marking in the Agniveervayu exam?

Yes. Each correct answer gets 1 mark, and 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. Unanswered questions get 0 marks.

Is there a category-wise cut off for Agniveer Vayu?

The Indian Armed Forces do not follow caste-based reservation in recruitment, so category-wise cut-off tables you see online should be treated with caution.
