Chhattisgarh Cabinet Approves Recruitment Rules for 10% Quota for Ex-Agniveers in State Jobs
The Chhattisgarh Cabinet has approved recruitment rules to implement a 10% quota for ex-Agniveers in state jobs. The reservation covers police constable, forest guard and jail warder posts for Agniveers from the state who complete four years of service.
Raipur, 3 October 2026: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet has approved the recruitment rules needed to put the state's 10 percent reservation for former Agniveers into effect. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mahanadi Bhawan, Raipur, on 30 September 2026.
What the Cabinet Approved
The Cabinet cleared the Chhattisgarh Public Service Former Agniveer Soldiers Recruitment Rules, 2026. These rules lay down how the 10 percent quota will be applied when the state recruits for certain uniformed posts.
The reservation itself was approved earlier, on 22 July 2026, through the Chhattisgarh Reservation of Vacancies in Class-III Civil Services for Agniveer Soldiers Rules, 2026. The new rules are the next step, as they set the process for actual recruitment.

Why This Matters for Agniveers
Under the Agnipath scheme, Agniveers serve in the Armed Forces for four years. Up to 25 percent of each batch can be retained for regular service, while the rest return to civilian life with a Seva Nidhi package and a skill certificate.
For those who are not retained, reserved posts in state services offer a clear second career in uniform. The first batches of Agniveers are due to complete their four years from 2027, so this decision comes at a useful time for candidates from Chhattisgarh.
The Central Government has also announced a 10 percent reservation for ex-Agniveers in the Central Armed Police Forces and the Assam Rifles, and several other states have announced similar measures.

-
Check the detailed rules for age limits, physical standards and selection process once they are published.
