CDS Result 2027 Date

UPSC does not announce the result date in advance, but recent cycles give a clear idea. The CDS 1 2026 exam was held on 12 April 2026, and the written result came out on 8 May 2026, about four weeks later. A total of 8,826 candidates qualified for the SSB interview.

Written Result, Final Result and Scorecard

There are three separate stages, and it helps to know the difference:

1. CDS written result: A PDF of roll numbers of candidates who qualified the written exam and are called for SSB. It does not show marks.

2. Final result (merit list): Released after the SSB interviews. UPSC publishes separate lists for IMA, INA and AFA, and for OTA (Men) and OTA (Women).

3. Scorecard (marks): Individual marks and cut-offs are uploaded after the final result and stay online for about 30 days.

So if you search for your marks right after the CDS Result 2027 is declared, please don't worry if you can't find them. They are released at a later stage.

How to Check CDS Result 2027

Checking the result is simple and needs no login:

1. Visit upsc.gov.in.

2. Open the "What's New" section, or go to Examinations > Active Examinations.

3. Click on the Written Result link for Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2027.

4. Download the PDF.

5. Press Ctrl + F (or use "Find in page" on your phone) and type your roll number.

6. If your roll number appears, you have qualified for the SSB interview. Save the PDF for your records.

Helpful tip: Your roll number is printed on your admit card, so please keep it safe until the final result. On result day the website may be slow, so try again after a few minutes if the page doesn't load.

How to Check CDS Scorecard

Once the final result is out, UPSC releases individual marks. To check your marks:

1. Visit upsc.gov.in.

2. Look for the marks link for the CDS 2027 exam in the "What's New" or examination section.

3. Enter the details asked for, such as your roll number and date of birth.

4. View your marks for each paper, the written total and the SSB marks.

5. Download and save your marks within 30 days, before they are removed.

For CDS 1 2026, UPSC said marks would be released only after the final OTA result. So OTA and non-OTA candidates may see their marks at slightly different times.

CDS Cut Off 2027

The CDS cut off is decided by UPSC after each exam. It depends on the difficulty of the paper, the number of candidates and the vacancies in each academy. UPSC releases the official cut-off marks together with individual marks after the final result.

What Happens After CDS Result 2027?

Step 1: CDS SSB Registration

• Army first choice (IMA or OTA): Register on joinindianarmy.nic.in to receive your SSB call-up details. If you registered earlier, you don't need to register again. Use the same email ID that you gave UPSC.

• Navy first choice: Call letters can be downloaded from joinindiannavy.gov.in about three weeks after the result, or you can write to officer@navy.gov.in.

• Air Force first choice: SSB details are handled by the Directorate of Personnel (Officers), Air Headquarters.

This CDS SSB registration step is important, as it is how you receive your interview date and centre.

Step 2: SSB Interview

The SSB is a five-day, two-stage process:

• Stage 1: OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating) tests and PP&DT (Picture Perception and Discussion Test). Only those who clear Stage 1 stay for Stage 2.

• Stage 2: Psychology tests, GTO (Group Testing Officer) tasks, the personal interview and the conference, held over four days.

AFA candidates also take the CPSS (Computerised Pilot Selection System), which is given only once.

SSB timing: For CDS II 2026, UPSC said IMA, INA and AFA candidates would attend SSB in February–March 2027, and OTA-only candidates in April–June 2027. A similar order is likely for 2027.

Step 3: Medical Examination

Recommended candidates go through a detailed medical examination at a Military Hospital. Candidates found unfit can apply for an Appeal Medical Board within the time given.

Step 4: CDS Final Merit List

The final merit list is prepared from your total written and SSB marks. Final selection also depends on medical fitness, the number of vacancies and your academy preferences. If two candidates have equal marks, the one with higher written marks is ranked higher, then higher GK marks, then the older candidate.

For reference, the CDS 1 2025 OTA final result was declared on 30 December 2025, with 535 candidates (473 men and 62 women) in the merit list.

Step 5: Joining the Academy

Selected candidates receive joining instructions from the service headquarters. For CDS 1 2026, the IMA, INA and AFA courses start in January 2027 and the OTA courses in April 2027, so CDS 1 2027 candidates can expect a similar timeline a year later.

Documents to Keep Ready for SSB

Please carry these originals to the SSB centre:

• Class 10 certificate (age proof)

• Degree certificate or provisional certificate with marksheets

• For final-year students: a certificate from your college principal stating that you are appearing in the final-year exam

• NCC 'C' certificate, if applicable

• A valid photo ID, your SSB call letter and your admit card

Candidates without the required original certificates are not allowed to take the SSB. These documents go to the SSB centre, not to UPSC.

If Your Roll Number Is Not in the CDS 1 Result

Not qualifying in one attempt can feel disappointing, but many officers cleared CDS on a later try. A few helpful steps:

• Apply for the next CDS exam if you are within the age limit. The CDS 2 2027 notification is expected on 12 May 2027, around the same time as the CDS 1 result.

• Review your CDS scorecard once marks are out, and find the paper that needs more work.

• Practise with timed mocks and previous year papers.

• Explore other entries you are eligible for, such as AFCAT or other graduate entries.
