CAPF AC 2027 Physical Standards: Height, Chest, Weight, PET Events and Medical Rules
CAPF AC 2027 physical standards decoded: the 164.9 cm rule, PET cut-offs, the long jump line trap and a weekly training plan.
Quick Answer: Under the latest UPSC notice, men need 165 cm height, an 81 cm chest with 5 cm expansion, and 50 kg weight. Women need 157 cm and 46 kg. Men run 100 m in 16 seconds and 800 m in 3:45, jump 3.5 m and put a 7.26 kg shot 4.5 m. Women run 100 m in 18 seconds and 800 m in 4:45, and jump 3.0 m.

The CAPF AC 2027 physical standards aren't notified yet. UPSC's annual calendar for 2027 lists the notice for 17 February 2027 and the written exam for 4 July 2027. Until then, the 2026 notice is the latest official rulebook, and recent cycles have used the same core numbers.
Below are the exact body standards, every PET cut-off, the medical checks that reject candidates late, and a training plan that fits around a job or college.
What Are the CAPF AC 2027 Physical Standards for Height, Chest and Weight?
Men need 165 cm height, an 81 cm chest that expands to at least 86 cm, and 50 kg weight. Women need 157 cm and 46 kg, with no chest test. Both weights are floors, because your weight must also fit a height-and-age chart.

Measurement is strict. The UPSC CAPF (AC) 2026 notification records height to one decimal place and gives its own example: with a 165 cm minimum, 164.9 cm fails. No rounding up. Within a centimetre of the line? Get measured properly at a clinic now.
Details Most Aspirants Miss in the PST
- Weight works both ways: a 170 cm man aged 23 to 27 should weigh 54 to 66 kg, a 160 cm woman 43 to 52.5 kg. Too heavy fails you too.
- Chest expansion is its own pass mark: an 81 cm chest that expands only to 85 cm still fails. The expanded reading must touch 86 cm.
- No regional height relaxation: the 2026 notice lists none. The 162.5 cm figure quoted on some sites comes from other recruitments.
- PST comes first: only candidates who meet these standards go on to the PET. Miss height, and you won't run at all.

What Are the PET Events and Qualifying Standards?
Men face four events and women three: a 100 m race, an 800 m race and a long jump for both, plus a 7.26 kg shot put for men only. Every event is pass or fail.
|
PET Event |
Men |

On paper, 16 seconds for 100 m leaves some room. The 800 m is a different story. Two laps at a steady 56 seconds per 200 m is the pace men must hold, start to finish.
Rules That Decide Pass or Fail on PET Day
- Long jump line rule: if any part of your body touches the 3.5 m (men) or 3.0 m (women) marking line, it's a fail. Land clearly past it.
- The shot is heavy: 7.26 kg is the senior men's athletics weight. Practise with a real shot, not a gym ball.
- Qualifying only: the PET adds zero marks. But a fail here means no interview call.
- Pregnancy rule: a pregnant candidate is declared temporarily unfit, her vacancy stays reserved, and she's re-tested six weeks after confinement.
Knowing the events is one half. Knowing when they arrive is the other.
When Does the CAPF Physical Test Happen in the Selection Process?
It comes after the written result and before the interview. The order is written exam (450 marks), PST, PET, interview (150 marks), then medical. Merit counts only written and interview marks.
In 2026, the written exam was on 19 July, the result came in late August, and PST/PET began on 13 October. Roughly seven weeks from result to track. A similar gap in 2027 puts your PET around September or October.
What This Order Means for Your Preparation
- Seven weeks isn't enough for most desk-bound candidates to cut an 800 m from 4:30 to 3:45 without injury.
- Medical comes after the interview: you can impress the board and still be declared unfit later.
- A Review Medical Board exists: candidates declared unfit can appeal within 24 hours of the result.
- Speed doesn't raise rank: a 3:10 run and a 3:44 run earn the same zero marks.
Physical gaps can be trained. Some medical gaps can't. So check those early.
What Are the CAPF AC Medical Standards?
The medical exam checks eyesight, colour vision, ears, joints, feet, pulse and general health. Clear disqualifiers include knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, stammering, and a resting pulse outside 50 to 100 per minute.

Glasses are fine if refractive error stays within minus 4.00 D (myopia) or plus 4.00 D (hypermetropia), cylinder included. Colour perception must meet CP-III on Ishihara plates. Prescription near minus 4? Book an eye test first.
Medical Checks Worth Testing Before 2027
- LASIK is allowed under set conditions (see the FAQ below), with at least six months between surgery and recruitment.
- Carrying angle at the elbow can't exceed 15 degrees for men or 20 degrees for women.
- Tattoos are allowed only on the inner left forearm or the back of the hand, covering less than a quarter of that part.
- Chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, hernia or heart disease lead to rejection.
Medical side checked? Then the only thing left in your control is training.
How Should You Train for the Physical Test Alongside Studies?
Start now, train four to five days a week, and aim well below the cut-offs: about 3:25 for the men's 800 m and 4:20 for women. That buffer covers heat, a slow start or nerves.
Juggling a job or final-year classes? Forty-five minutes before work is enough if it's consistent. Don't run hard every day. Shin pain in month three costs more than a rest day ever will.
A Weekly Plan That Fits Around Work or College
- Two interval days: 6 × 200 m at goal pace (about 51 seconds for men, 65 for women), with a 90-second walk between reps.
- One easy run: 3 to 5 km at a pace where you can still talk.
- One speed and jump day: 6 × 60 m sprints, then 8 to 10 long jumps aiming past 3.8 m (men) or 3.3 m (women).
- Two strength days: squats, lunges and step-ups. Men add 3 sets of 5 standing puts with a 7.26 kg shot.
- One monthly time trial: a timed 800 m on a measured 400 m track, so you know your real number.
Old injury or a medical condition? Clear the plan with a doctor first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any height relaxation in CAPF AC?
No. The 2026 UPSC notification lists a flat 165 cm for men and 157 cm for women, with no relaxation for any region or category. Relaxed heights quoted online come from other recruitments. Recheck the 2027 notice in February.
What is the CAPF AC height for female candidates?
Women need a minimum height of 157 cm, measured to one decimal place. They also need at least 46 kg weight that fits the height-and-age chart. There's no chest measurement for women, and their PET has no shot put event.
Is the CAPF physical test qualifying or does it add marks?
It's qualifying only. The PST and PET add no marks. Your final score comes from the 450-mark written exam and the 150-mark interview. But failing the physical stage stops you from reaching the interview at all.
Can I join CAPF AC after LASIK surgery?
Yes, if the surgery meets the notified criteria: done between ages 18 and 35, a pre-surgery error up to 6 D, corneal thickness of at least 425 microns, and a stable result. At least six months must pass after surgery before recruitment.
Ready for the 2027 Physical Test?
These standards are simple to read and unforgiving on test day. One millimetre short, one foot on the long jump line, or a slow second lap can undo months of written preparation. So measure yourself, check your eyes, and get on a track this week.
